Socceroos to be Supported in Brazil by Continental Tyres
Continental Tyres of Australia is extremely proud to see that the Australian soccer team, the Socceroos, will be competing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil after its thrilling victory last night against Iraq.
Continental AG, parent company of Continental Tyres of Australia, has been an Official Sponsor of the FIFA World Cup since 2006 and this support of the most popular tournament in the world's number one sport is a crucial component of its global marketing mix.
"Soccer, or football, is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and in recent years we have noticed a significant increase in awareness in Australia," Mitchell Golledge, Marketing Manager, Continental Tyres of Australia said.
"If the interest shown in the Socceroos qualifying matches over the last fortnight, particularly the emphatic reaction after Josh Kennedy's goal last night is anything to go by, Australians are still extremely passionate about the game and Continental is really excited to be able to join in and support our boys in Brazil next year.
"Continental's support of global football is seen as beneficial in enhancing brand awareness of our company around the world and hence contributing to strengthening our brand's marketing position."
Internationally, Continental Tyres has a strong involvement in global football with sponsorship of the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups as well as support of the UEFA Champions League from 1995-2000, UEFA EURO 2008 and 2012 and recent expansion of the agreement with Major League Soccer in the USA.
"As by far the world's most popular sport, professional football has proved an outstanding central communications platform for us," says Nikolai Setzer, Continental Executive Board member responsible for the Tyre Division.
"Since 1995 we have recorded a steady increase in brand awareness for our premium Continental brand and fired up the brand image with the powerful emotions from football stadiums around the world."
As part of its ongoing commitment to global football, including sponsorship of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Continental has its own website, www.ContiSoccerWorld.com, dedicated to all things football.
For the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the website will feature background reports on participating countries and players, things to see and do in Brazil, tips for fans as well as interviews with senior management and product profiles.
A new Continental app is also in the pipeline and is set to be launched shortly.
